Diesel Exhaust Fluid Made Easy

The world is becoming more and more environmentally conscious, and with it stricter emission regulations mandated by provincial, state and federal governments.

Among these changes include rules to build trucks and off-road equipment with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology. If your company has newer trucks or equipment you’ll know all about SCR technology and Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF).

If not, it’s a solution made up of 32.5% urea (a nitrogen-metabolizing organic compound commonly used in fertilizers) and 67.5% demineralized water. When injected into the upstream exhaust, it helps to regulate emissions by neutralizing nitrogen oxide.

Good for the environment, but for transportation and construction companies, it’s just another product to source, purchase and track. Also a headache is storing the product onsite since it degrades in both the heat and the cold.

Luckily, trucks and equipment use very little DEF. Typical consumption is about 2-4% of overall fuel usage.

When it comes to your DEF supply there a few options. None more convenient than direct to equipment delivery through 4Refuel.

While we are onsite wet hosing, a separate DEF compartment on our truck, or in some markets a product-specific truck, is able to fill your DEF tank.

Have a DEF tank/tote system? No problem, we’re able to fill those, too.

What about control?

All DEF dispensed by 4Refuel is registered by our meters and volume is captured down to the drop.

And just like with our diesel deliveries, RFID tags positively identify the vehicle or equipment and our onboard technology captures the data from each transaction. A GPS shot records the exact location and time of each fill up.

All transaction information is made available online within 24 hours via your secure login to our exclusive fuel management system FMO for easy cost control and billing.

Now that’s convenience and control.
