4Refuel Regional Manager Celebrates Nephew's Promotion to NHL GM
It’s all in the family for 4Refuel Regional Operations Manager, Tim Dubas.
Growing up in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Dubas says his family was accustom to hard work, in fact, they didn’t have to look far for inspiration. Tim and his two brothers watched as their father rolled up his sleeves and worked at the steel mill during the day and coached the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at night.
Hockey has always been at the forefront, and the family has celebrated many hockey milestones over the years, but none have been bigger than last week.
Tim’s nephew Kyle Dubas was named General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Toronto Maple Leafs. At age 32, Dubas becomes one of the youngest General Managers in all professional sports.
As his uncle and former coach, Tim says he and the entire Dubas family knew Kyle was destined for great things both on and off the ice.
“At 10-years-old he could list NCAA Division I stats that most people wouldn’t have a clue about. He’s always been that hockey intellect,” he said.
“He’s a highly intelligent young man, and he works hard and works diligently. He’s a fantastic leader, and he cares about people.”
Previous to his promotion, Kyle had spent the last four years working in the Leafs head office. He also served as the General Manager for the Greyhounds, where his grandfather had coached and Kyle started off as stick boy.
While Tim and the entire family has been extremely proud of Kyle, they know he’ll do well with the family values ingrained in him.
“I think it’s in our blood to work hard for everything we want. My dad worked hard, my mother raised us to work hard and we were always at rinks and Kyle was born into those traits,” Tim said.
