Is Your Business Prepared For Hurricane Season?

Hurricane season is around the corner. After an active year in 2017, experts predict the 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season to be similar, bringing as many as five major storms.

Beginning June 1 and running until November 30, Atlantic Hurricane Season impacts the southeastern United States, as well as the entire Eastern Seaboard, including the Canadian Maritimes.

Though we can’t know for sure what is to come, preparing for the unexpected is the best place to start.

Here are just a few tips to help keep your business ready for any situation.
  1.  Develop an emergency plan. Your plan should include communications procedures for alerting employees, clients and customers about your status during the storm. It should also cover operating procedures for during and after the storm.
  2.  Create a contact list of vendors who can provide emergency service during and after the storm.
  3.  Be sure to test your backup systems, including generators, before Hurricane Season to ensure they are in working order and filled with fresh fuel.
  4.  Keep up to date with hurricane news to know when to implement emergency procedures.
