It’s Never Too Early to Start Preparing

Hurricane season is fast approaching and while we can’t prevent hurricanes, it’s never too early to start preparing.

Running each year from June 1 to November 30, the Atlantic Hurricane Season impacts the Southeastern United States, as well as the entire Eastern Seaboard and Atlantic Canada. According to meteorological services, the 2018 season is predicted to bring as many as five major hurricanes.

While we can’t know for sure what each season will bring, making advance preparations will help your business be ready for almost any situation.
Here are a few tips to keep in mind during this year’s storm season:

1) Develop an emergency plan. Your plan should include communications procedures for alerting employees, clients and customers about your status during the storm. It should also include operating procedures for during and after the storm.
2) Create a contact list of vendors who can provide emergency service during and after the storm.
3) Be sure to test your backup systems, including generators, prior to Hurricane Season to ensure they are in working order and filled with fresh fuel.
4) Keep up to date with hurricane news to know when to implement emergency procedures.
